bridges/river-crossings

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Did not find anthing related to that topic. Are there any kind off river-crossing/bridges available which reduce the MP usage?

Sad that's a serious omission. A lot work on rail and supply etc, but no bridges. Bridges were a key factor in supply and strategic planning in WW2, A Bridge Too Far would never have been made if bridges weren't important. [:)]

Darn, and here I kept trying to cross rivers at railheads thinking there was some advantage to doing so (other than the eventual supply advantage, of course).

This bridges/fords thing is a bit of an issue. It is the only obvious blemish on a beautiful product. Hopefully there will be some sort of adjustment to reflect the significance of bridges on rivers like the Volga, Don, Dnepr, etc.

It is assumed their blown. Just keep that in mind. Thus the extra MP's to cross. Old subject with me, I just except it. Theres no luck in capturing a bridge, wish there was sorry...

I don't think it's a big deal. At this scale I'm not sure how bridges could be implemented anyway. Any rail crossing is an obvious bridge and maybe those hexes can receive a slightly lower cost in movement points? That might be the easiest way to bring them into the game without making a major overhaul.

In Decisive Campaigns Warsaw to Paris, the scale is much smaller and I thought bridges were modeled very well. I was careful how I used them in my strategy. However, at 10 miles a hex I just don't think its a big deal that they are not in WITE. It goes hand in hand with the map not having roads...

The design decision was that they don't make sense at this scale.  People can feel free to disagree with that decision.

Yes, the scale is so harge that any there will be may paths to cross a river hexside, not just one.
So I'm totally fine with homogenous treatment (at least there's a penealty if the river is big and wide).
