Road to Kiev and AI

Post by robarrieta »

I played part of Road to Kiev tonight and failed to encircle and cut-off the frontline Soviet units. I made a mad dash for Kiev instead and made it as far as Zhitomir in 2 turns. Amazingly during turn 3, the entire front line Soviet army (except for static units) retreated and formed a new consolidated line in front of Kiev and all the way South. This turned the game into an attrition battle I was not going to win. To add insult to injury, a few Soviet units cut off my lead Panzer divisions at Zhitomir. Pretty good showing by the AI on "normal" setting. A threw up the white flag after 3 turns. Cutting off the Soviets early is critical. Lesson learned...

I experienced similar things, ended quite fast when I started to use my recon flights. Using recon you can start to find small gaps in the Soviet defense and can try to push your way through. try not to leave big gaps between your advancing Pzr's as you already know the results.
