B5 shipsets ? Anyone ?

Post by Kadrush »

Hy,

I tried to create a mod myself for B5 shipsets, tried to use SE4 shipsets for that, but the pictures are to small, and when you enlarge for 250x250 pixels they get really distorted. Then I tried to adapt SE5 shipset, which is 3d, and also couldnt do it.

Therfore

Is anyone working on B5 shipset for DW?

If dont, how do you guys make those beautiful shipset mods available?

I just posted a reply for this but for some reason it didn't take. I'll start again...

Here's a bunch of B5 ship models for the game Starfleet Command :- http://sfc.battleclinic.com/docks/browse.php

Here's a model viewer for them :- http://www.filefront.com/976273/taldrenmodviewer.zip

I'm sure there are also a couple of posts if you search back  a few pages. I don't know how far they progressed though.

I collected some models and posted them on the forum:

Thanks

I as wondering, how did you guys add transparency to your models...using the tools Igard posted I could choose and modify some models.

That how I work

1-I open the mod viewer
2-I choose a models from files made available by Igard (thanks again!!!)
3-Open it
4-Print Screen the image
5-Open paint
6-Past it
7-Reduce the size up to 500x500.
8-Paint open space in blue / white / black
9-Save as png
10-Open it with windows imaging and adjust imaging facing
11-Copy the model to ships folder for testing

My problem is that no matter which color I choose as background I cant force it to get transparent and my models get screwed.

Glad to hear you're having a go at this, Kadrush.

I don't think paint can create a transparent colour, though I'm not sure.

You can either use GIMP (that's what I use) or Paint.NET. Both are free.

To create a transparency in GIMP you can either create a new image and select the background as transparent. Or you can select Layer from the menu, then transparency and then Add alpha channel.

Any more questions, just ask away. [:)]

I use Gimp as well.  It took me forever to learn how to make the background transparent, but once you do it will allow you to make your own ships quite easily.  Artwork is a different story...i've been wanting to make some from scratch for a long time now.

Gimp Download:

Ok, I spent a full evening / night playing with Gimp, now I finnaly manage to use transparency accordinly. It is now a matter of redimensioning the ships accordinly.

Ooooopppss, one more thing...how did I add the engine effects to my ship images?

1 px blue (0,0,255) lines at the rear of the ships  in the locations you want the glow to appear.
