Good Thread, it was a scary commute today. There was SO much ice out there... When I get off the train in the town where my hospital is, it's about a 15 minute walk from the station; when Mrs. McDull and I made that trip this morning, it was an <expletive deleted> ice rink! We were both all cramped up when we arrived at work, because every muscle from the neck down had to be tensed.
[:@]
Yeah, well, we had ice this morning too. Much better to bust your bum than your wife's car like I did. [:@]
Spun out and hit a guard rail with the front fender. Worst part was the airbags deployed. Did you know those stink like white phosphorous with a heavy dose of sulphur?

Yeah, they stink like you guys think my toe must stink ([:'(]) but the smell of a deployed airbag is better than never smelling anything ever again.

I'm fine.
The car will survive. It's a tough little bugger. Guard rails appear to be just the right height to hit bumper only, and bumpers are...well...bumpers and designed to bump things. Radiator didn't get damaged, nor did the hood crinkle (another major cost), so we should get out pretty good. I could have driven the car home except it smelled like bilge and the the left fender was rubbing the tire a bit.

I knew about Star Wars and Dam Busters You all do too, right?) but I didn't know this about Airplane! and Zero Hour But then I'd never heard of Zero Hour
Never heard about Zero Hour either. The cockpit scene in ZH almost writes itself for a parody.

Driving on ice sucks. Sorry about your car. Glad to hear that you're OK. As for busting one's bum preferentially to busting up a car-nope. Sometimes bums stay busted.

Sorry to hear that. If the airbags deployed, your insurance co will probably total it. That might be either good or bad. Either way, you'll probably be shopping for a new car shortly. Really glad youre OK though.

Hard to imagine that considering how little damage was done otherwise. Of course, it is a 1997 model so you may very well be right. You may be right though as the insurer is your former employer.
That would be very bad, of course, since my wife loves that car. [8|]

A '97? Unless its a Bentley, I'm afraid its done. The good news? You can haggle a bit on the value and you can actually keep the car as is (minus salvage value) if you think that you can get it fixed for a reasonable amount. Mind you, part of the reason they total cars with deployed airbags is that the cost a bunch. The other part is safety, of course.
