The Soviet Air Juggernaut in 43

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Bob: taking between 500 and 1000 losses solely from tactical bombers in numerous attacks each turn isn't sustainable for the Germans, especially if it's the mobile units taking the losses.

On the first turns everyone's fuel, ammo, readiness etc is at 100% so you are seeing a best case scenario. Over the course of the game the average numbers will be much lower. And these results are from attacking, which the Axis does much less of. My previous test showed losses were much lower when defending.

Still think it needs more looking into (thanks fior the test though by the way). I guess as more GC's get to late 42 onwards there'll be a lot more real data to analyse with!

I was thinking more of the 1942 campaign than the 1943 campaign. The Axis will be attacking in the 1942 campaign. That was also what prompted me to report the high losses: the losses I was taking from bi-planes and IL-2's in the 1942 campaign.

I haven't done any 1942 testing - 41 and 43 have been my bag.

You are seeing 500-1000 losses from TAC with the fixed exe?

Haven't tried the patch yet in a 1942 campaign, so I'm not sure what kind of losses I'd be seeing.

MechFO, you should be sure the Fighter Intercept percentage in the Air Doctrine screen is good.

Some real world information from the Normandy, instructive about the effects of air power even of the comparatively effective Western Allied ones.

This isn't about the effectiveness or lack of it of fighter interception, but about what amount of damage tactical air should be able to inflict.
