Requested Support Question

I've read various threads on this issue, but some things are still unclear for me.

Take the following chain of command OKW -> AGN -> 18th Army -> Panzer Corp HQs.

As the last HQ is usually within 5 hexes from the front and the rest are much farther away, I would say set Support Requested to 0 for everything except the Corp HQs.

Is there any reason to set something aside for the 18th Army HQ, in the above mentioned example? My fear is that setting support units for high level HQs will make those units unavailable on the front line.

I would appreciate any input on this one.

If you have some artillery to spare, you could consider giving the army level HQ some. Aside from artillery, I'd suggest that only some construction units be placed in army level and above HQ's, the combat units should be assigned to corps or divisions.
