Let The Good-Times Roll, DivePac (A) v Ramjet (J), Allied AAR.

Post by DivePac88 »

SUMMARY,

Ramjet took Moulmein today in Burma, with about one and a half divisions. That is about the force I was expecting, and he can have Rangoon when he wants it.

In China he put in a deliberate attack on a Chinese force withdrawing north. But my force managed to hold, with about 2500 losses on each side. My basic plan here in Central China, is to delay were possible while falling back around the Sian area.

His Fuso class battleships bombarded Bataan again last night, and my CD guns did manage to get 7x hits on Fuso. But I think the hits were from medium caliber guns only, I am starting to think that my heavy CD guns couldn't hit the side of a mountain.

Ramjet's division at Cagayan stormed the base today, but all my units there retreated south. This is despite the fact the Ramjet controls all the bases around Cagayan. This is good new, as it tries his division up for another week or two.

My reinforcements for Pago Pago departed from the West Coast today, they include the 8th Marines, a USAAF base force, and a AA regiment. These are the last reinforcements for Pago Pago, and now my attention focuses on building up Fiji.

SUBMARINE WAR,

The Dutch KXV attacked the Jap AK Sanura Maru on the surface north of Muntok last night. KXV got 3x torpedo and 2x shell hits on the AK, almost certainly sinking her.

SUMMARY

In China Ramjet put another deliberate attack in against my Chinese army east of Nanyang. My Chinese unit held again, with about 2000 casualties on each side.

Heavy air raids on Singapore today by his Lilies and Sallies, and they were only at 6000 feet so they took heavy losses, including from barrage balloons. Also he has stopped his shock attack on Singapore, so he must think he needs more troops.

Some of his carrier aircraft attacked a coastal minesweeper patrol off Batavia today, sinking 2 of them.

SUBMARINE WAR

The Dutch KXII attacked AK Fukuyo Maru west of Muntok overnight. KXII attacked the Jap AK on the surface with it's deck-gun scoring 6 hits, but the AK also hit KXII 4 times.

The Jap I-170 attempted to attack an amphib convoy unloading at Johnston Island, but was driven off my the escort, there was no damage reported to either side.

SUMMARY

Ramjet has moved 4x ground units up from Moulmein to across the river from Pegu, so I am now moving my 2x brigades at Pegu north to Toungoo. When he crosses and takes Pegu I will then evacuate Rangoon, moving my units there north to Prome.

He raided Batavia today with carrier aircraft from a division of 2x heavy carriers, and another of 3x or 3x light carriers. Luckily I have already removed the shipping from Batavia, and he only sunk 3x torpedo-boats that were repairing there.

SUBMARINE WAR

SUMMARY

Ramjet's carrier task forces that had supported the Palembang operation have now moved down into the Java Sea. I don't think that they are supporting a landing on Java, but are doing what KB was designed for,and that is Raiding. He will be after the Dutch air force, and any of my naval surface combat forces in the area. I have managed to get the Dutch naval squadron away, and the Repulse group is still repairing in Aussie. Also I have the Dutch air force dispersed, and will not waste any aircraft on attacking a heavily CAP'd carrier force. So he will probably beat-up the major bases, and destroy a few aircraft on the ground, then leave.

SUBMARINE WAR

Finally nailed I-170 overnight, and I shaw this time. The Jap sub tried to attack the shipping unloading at Johnston Island. The escort attacked the sub forcing her to the surface, and she was sunk after a gunfight. I-170 put up a good fight though, even firing a torpedo at an AP that was shooting at her.

I-155 attempted to attack a convoy off Pamekasan in Southern Java overnight, but was driven of by the escort before she could shoot.

SUMMARY

Ramjet puts in another assault on Loyang in China, and gets a 1 to 1 result. He also reduces the fortifications to 1, and losses 965 casualties while I lose 2728. So if his troops attacking at Loyang are not too fatigued, he will take the city in the next 2x days.

But his first assault on Bataan was a different story, here he got a 1 to 3 result. He lost 5448 casualties to my 1091, but more important he had 81x combat squads destroyed. I will not counter attack here, as I am playing for time, not points.

His carriers in the Java Sea pounded the port at Soerabaja today. But all my shipping is gone, and under the weather west of Java. He might try the airfields tomorrow, but as I said before; the dutch air force is spread allover Java.

SUBMARINE WAR

The Dutch boat KIX attacked a big juicy TK east of Singapore overnight. KIX launched 2x torpedoes at TK Kiyo Maru, and got 1x hit. Sadly the said torpedo failed to detonate, which is uncharacteristic for the Dutch torpedoes to date, but thats war I suppose.

SUMMARY,

Ramjet stormed the city of Loyang in Central China today, no surprise here, as I thought it would fall. The good news is that my casualties were not too heavy, and the Chinese units have retreated toward Sian. Which is the way I wanted them to go, and they are still in fighting condition with higher experience.

Heavy air raids on both Bataan and Singapore today, which he is working over to keep the forts down, and also destroy some supply. I am confident that both can hold-out for some time, as his first attack on Bataan cost him over 5000 casualties.

SUMMARY

Air-raids on both Bataan and Singapore again today, with over 100x Lilly's and Sally's hitting Singapore. Both these raids suffered less losses that his previous raids, because he is now bombing from 8000 feet instead of 6000. It also appears that Ramjet is moving to shock attack Singapore again, he started this last week then stopped. I think that he might of stopped last week's move after the bloody noise he got with the Bataan attack.

In Burma today Ramjet's forces took Pegu, which I had evacuated the day before. I have now started to move my last units out of Rangoon since Pegu is now gone. There are now 2x forces, of 2x infantry brigades each withdrawing to the north now. One is falling back From Pegu toward Mandalay, and the other is withdrawing from Rangoon to Prome. Both these forces are strong enough to repulse any of his tank, or mobile regiments with the speed to catch-up on them.

SUMMARY

Air-raids again today against Bataan and Singapore, his losses and the damage he caused was light, as he has moved the bombing altitude up again to 10,000 feet. He has started to send recon flights over my bases in northern Java today, maybe looking for the Dutch Air force.

Ramjet's forces in Southern China took the city of Chuhsien today west of Shanghai. I pulled my forces out of this city yesterday, as my strategy here was to delay, and keep my experienced infantry intact. Some of these units will now go south to reinforce Wenchow, which I will hold till he overwhelms my forces there.

SUBMARINE WAR

The Dutch KXVIII was sighted and hunted by a lone Jap SC west of Singkawang overnight. I think that this SC was part of a convoy, and it hunted KXVIII for sometime, but did not attack.

SUMMARY

My lucky day at Singapore on the ground today I think, as Ramjet's shock attack finally arrived. He came at me with the equivalent of 6x divisions of infantry and numerous supporting units. His attack achieved a 1 to 1, but with 3x forts my forces held. While the cost was 6158 casualties to him, against 4605 lost to me. My 2x Indian divisions and 2x Australian brigades still look in good order. So it depends on the condition of his infantry divisions/regiments, and how long they can attack for.

Ramjet also started landing at Donggala in Celebes today.

SUBMARINE WAR

Overnight a Jap SC sights, but cant locate Porpoise north of Singkawang. Then later in the same area Porpoise attacks AK Kashiwara Maru with 2x torpedoes, but both miss. [:(]

Also overnight the Dutch O16 is hunted by convoy escorts in the Celebes Sea south of Tawau, luckily O16 manages to escape without damage.

RE: Let The Good-Times Roll, DivePac (A) v Ramjet (J), Allied AAR.

Post by DivePac88 »

SUMMARY

Ramjet didn't renew the attack on Singapore today, but bombarded instead. So I can deduce that his ground units are either fatigued, and/or damaged from the shock attack yesterday.

His 124th infantry regiment started landing at Balikpapan today, and some of his ships were damaged engaging my shore battery's there. Ramjet also lost the destroyer Yamagumo, which struck a mine off the harbor.

Finally Donggala fell to a SNLF company today.

Note; I am discontinuing this AAR for the foreseeable future to concentrate on my new Japanese AAR. This is no reflection on my game with Ramjet which will continue as before, with him wiping me off the map. The reason is that my other opponent Fallschirmjager in my Japanese game is starting an opposing AAR, and this has alway been a dream of mine. That the reader can see though the FOW, see the real picture and the mistakes for what they are.
