ZOC hex control problem

Post by RocketMan »

Vic, I am playing the Case yellow scenario and there is some kind of problem with the ZOC hex control algorithm. In the screenshot in this post, hexes (67,52), (67,53) and (68,53) are still under Allied control even though there is no Allied unit within 6 hexes on them and the Germans have between 192 & 298 ZOC points per hex. The only way to actually get them to change control is to physically move a unit into those hexes.

In this second screenshot from the same game, I have moved the German 1st Calvary Division unit from hex (49,40 - number 1) to hex (46,42 - number 3) and for some reason hex (46,44 - number 5) on the other side of the British 46th Infantry Division unit in hex (46,43 - number 4) changes to German control when the Calvary unit moves from hex (47,41 - number 2) to hex (46,42 - number 3).

I tried to upload the save file for this game as an attachment to this post, but it was too large so I am going to email it to you. The units are already moved as shown in the first screenshot of this thread, but you will need to move the German First Calvary Division Unit as described in the second post.

There are also some other hex control quirks in this save file I can point out if you need more examples to solve this problem.

It doesn't look like 1.04d Beta solved this problem after all Vic. The selected hex in the screenshot below has 467 German ZOC points and has not changed control. I can send you the file if you need me to.

The game was started in 1.03 Beta, but Belgium surrendered after both my opponent and I updated to 1.04 Beta. Would you still expect this problem to occur under these circumstances?

Yes because once a scenario has started the rules for it are locked into the saved game and can't be changed by newer versions.
You'll only see the change once you start the scenario again.
