Why is picture on box so fake?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Why is picture on box so fake?

Post by Whyalterhistory »

I have almost all of Gary Grigsby games going back many years. Waited for The War in Russia along time. I see the box and can't believe what the soldier looks like. I guess he is suppposed to be German. After all the work to make the game as realistic as possible why this?

And this is important why? Why would they spend any more time on something as trivial as that than absolutely necessary?

also, I like the picture as it is. It looks cool.

lol are you kidding me? This guy actually posted something about the picture on the box? IMO that is one of the most annal things I've ever seen posted. Also, he has nothing to back up that it is in fact fake. If you have something to dispute, maybe prove your case a bit? [:-]

My advice is play the game have fun and relax.

Yeah, sort of baffled at that one, especially given that the soldier is obviously a photo illustration...?

Well, what is the insignia on the helmet supposed to be? Here is what I have seen in photographs for many decades. I've removed the part that might be offensive to someone.

Were these removed by Barbarossa, or did the order come during the campaign?

(not that I agree with OP BTW)

I agree with you kirkgregerson. Even if my "..brain can't handle anything over a few sentences" I don't get this criticism.

I love the picture.

Could find this info.

The tricolour national shield was used by the Wehrmacht, Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe on the right of the helmets.

In march 1940 was ordered to remove the shield to improve camouflage

But many helmets in use where not repainted.

So I guess the picture is right

A: Throw box away.

OR

B: Just use the d/l option.

Solved either way.
