installing mod

Post by oweerts »

Hi All,
I am having trouble installing mods. I was hoping someone could tell me where I may have gone astray.
I get to the point of going to ModSwap and File --> Install.
A dialogue box appears saying, "Warning: this mod requires the following map(s) to be installed:
LVOV4X (and then lists a heap of maps)
.....and 36 additional maps."
The box then conitnues to ask whether I would like to install anyway, to which I say yes.
I then get another dialogue box which says, "Error this mod requires Close Combat 3. You must install CC3 before you can use this mod."
Now, I have COI indtalled.
I got the same thing when I tried the Vietnam mod
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help

oweerts, this past post has always been a benchmark for me. Try it.

You can only have modswap work with CoI or CC3 not both concurrently.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Close Combat\CCModSwap.ini

And open with Notepad

You should see something similar to this

[blockquote]quote:

[General]
LastVersion=3

[InstalledVersions]
0=0
1=0
2=1
3=1
4=0
5=1
6=0
7=0
8=0
9=0

[InstalledLocations]
2=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\A Bridge Too Far
3=C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III
5=F:\Close Combat 5 Invasion Normandy

[InstalledToRegKey]
2=SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Close Combat\2.00
3=SOFTWARE\CSO\Close Combat\3.50
4=SOFTWARE\Strategic Simulations Inc.\Close Combat\4.00
5=SOFTWARE\Mattel Interactive\Close Combat\5.00

[EXEFileNames]
2=CC2.exe
3=CC3.exe
4=CC4.exe
5=CC5.exe

[/blockquote]

You will see it made up of several sections.

[General]
Modswap remembers the last version you used...do not change

[InstalledVersions]
Ensure 2=1 and 3=1 for your system

[InstalledLocations]
Make sure the path is correct to your installed path for each game.

3 must read "3=C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III"

[InstalledToRegKey]
Ensure 3=SOFTWARE\CSO\Close Combat\3.50

[EXEFileNames]
Check these are correct

Save and exit.

Modswap should now function correctly.

hello Again,

Well I opened ModSwap.ini and got the following info:
[General]
LastVersion=0
[Installed versions]
0=0
1=0
....
9=0

i.e. they all equal zero and none of the other script was there.

My CCModSwap file was exactly like yours too.
So what I did was copy and pasted the entries from Andrew Williams' post what was relevent to MY game (i.e. the post he was actually giving as an example was from a customer who had the same problems as ourselves but he also had CC2 and CC5 installed) particularly in the sections that were blank - for example;
[General]; [Installed Versions], putting a 1 next to your CC game (CC3) and if necessary copy and paste any info from AW's post in the [Installed to Reg Key] and [ExeFileNames] section sections that are blank on your CC Mod Swap file.

Hope this can help you as this reply from AW is very helpful to me in the 2 times I re-installed CCIII when I wanted it back on my PC again.

4=0
5=0
6=0
7=0
8=0
9=0

[InstalledLocations]
3=C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III

[InstalledToRegKey]
3=SOFTWARE\CSO\Close Combat\3.50

[EXEFileNames]
