Electronic warfare in the game

Post by Update »

Do radars (early warning, gun laying, aircraft based or direction finders etc.) have any role in the game?
If they have, what is the benefit for AA unit to have radar? (Or aircraft to have one like FuG 202?)

How should I understand, in game terms, the following info on Freya early warning radar, (OK) means no problem and (?) means I do not know[X(]

Device 117 Freya (OK)
Type 20 Ground Radar (OK)
Load 22222 (?)
Effect 65 (?)
Accuracy 60 (?)
Penetration 500 (?)

I'm not sure what the effect, accuracy or penetration do for radar either, and I'm waiting on a reply from Gary as to why German radars have a penetration value and the other radars don't.

Looks much like the WitP numbers for radar. It helps with DL (detection levels)rating if that is the case.

Yes, radars can have some effect in air war, but not that big as in WITP

Sorry, not really helpful. It goes to same category with this quote from a military manual: "Skies are helpful in moving crosscountry, especially in the winter." (Yes, it is an actual quote!!)[:D]

What I was looking for is how, what kind of effect and what does the above numbers mean in game?

Thanks!

That's currently the 1 million Reichsmark question. I'm still waiting on a reply from Gary.

Gary is not accepting RMs :)

Seriously I doubt Gary knows it without looking at the code, which is quite complex and may take some time to get definitive answer.

As stated effect for various devices means totally different things. Since the WITE has BTR/WITP roots it shouldn't be much different.

Hmmm... Do you think we will one day see a new version of WiTP with land warfare modelled along WiTE lines? The only thing I miss in WiTP is better ground unit views and land battle management. Imagine WiTP with 5 zoom levels and the ability to control combat on a per day basis :)
