I´m unsure about the convoy routing of Rainer, it doesn´t seem that he uses the same convoy routes which could be beneficial IMO as you could sweep these routes from my subs better than trying to clean the whole South China Sea (where we´ve got two dozen subs at the moment)...

my Lightning squadrons have become totally obsolete, wonder why... the Lightnings aren´t that worse compared to Corsairs but they are hardly able to deal with Zekes, let alone Georges... to make it worse for us, the Lightning squadrons are full of our best pilots... we trade the Lightnings 2:1 over the target but have so many damaged that it comes down to a 1:1 most times... and losing Lightnings 1:1 to Zeroes and Georges is something you just can´t afford as the Allied because the Japanese will laugh about anything below 3:1... what more can you do than to fill them up with aces and set them all to sweep? The oh so great working "routine" for coordination of sweeps makes any numerical advantage ad absurdum... it´s nothing but a flawed piece of programming... and in this case, we are attacking leaking Cap because it would be suicide to attack the base with the fighters itselve with radar now... now you´ve got radar and still the sh*tty coordination routine that is semi working for bomber strikes but totally rubbish in any way as soon as fighters are involved, no matter if it´s about escorts or sweeps... don´t even want to think about how silly it is when carrier based fighters are trying to escort some LBA strikes, this is even more absurd than the rest...

you can make it even worse, you can also send your Lightnings on escort... this means they are shot to pieces then and just reminds me of what I´m saying all the time... just send your bombers realistically unescorted and you end up with 20% of the losses... note that all three P-38 squadrons set to sweep show up with this bomber strike...

the bomber strikes are at times also looking just weird... how does this pass testing for release? Either implement the routines from BOB Bombing the Reich and make it a tactical game which isn´t possible or make it at least somewhat closer to having strikes that actually look like strikes and not training flights over the Bermuda triangle that all get lost...

wow, I praise the beta tester that told me "you will find out that all the air routines are borked"... the coordination thing is silly, it´s a totally flawed routine, the thing with the P-38 flying TEN!!! sweeps in one day must be a bug (for the first time in this PBEM)...
it´s interesting to read about Fifth AF in later days when you then read "80 P-38 were escorting the bombers to attack Lae", claiming dozens of enemy fighters and wrecking the airfield... my problem already starts when you can´t send the sweeps in a way you would accept it or when the escorts are usually shot to pieces by totally outnumbered and obsolete enemy fighters that face my flying circus... must be these days when the player is doing somethign wrong... neither do I see AARs showing any different "coordination" than my PBEM, nor is my opponent able to do it, nor does any of these famous "tips" on the forum help anything at all... the only thing I´ve found out so far is modding exp to 70+ which seems to help or having all squadrons on different airbases at different ranges as this works even better than having all the squadrons at the same base... how stupid is that? But that´s exactly how it is and is often enough shown by screenshots in the AARs when you see ten "strike lines" going to the same target...

all my attacks resulted in a bad outcome for us, now a Zeke sweep against leaking Cap from Hanoi ends up on the receiving end... even though only two Zekes show up as destroyed, all of them were either shot down or sent home damaged for only two op losses on our side... without this engagement, the enemy would have achieved another victory in the air, even though he faced a total numerical superiority of Allied fighters... guess we´ve ordered some 200 fighters to sweep the enemy today, facing something like 40-50 enemies (all inferior fighters compared to P-38 and P-47)... our squadrons are flown by the best you can get but the way the game works it doesn´t help at all to have a 4 or 5:1 numerical superiority because you can´t bring it to the fight as it is now... add in the dive or no dive and you either end up with a total victory or a defeat... we didn´t have the dive today for our P-38 up to this point but the leaking Cap from Hanoi in this example had the dive, bad news for the sweeping Zekes...

and that´s it for the sweeps... the P-38 from Hanoi took absurd losses today, mostly probably because they flew nine or ten missions in one day (clearly a bug), you can imagine how the fat looked like, the P-38 from Ternate sweeping Mindanao achieved a victory in the end with this sweep getting the never ending dive... more than two weeks P-38 replacements were lost today, we killed a weekly replacement of Zekes, definately not something we can afford...

and for the first time we attack a convoy South of Borneo with USN bombers coming from Ambon (got countless messages both in the morning and afternoon about bombers failing to locate the target due to range or weather or failing to link up)... 22 out of 72 bombers finally attack the convoy at the very end of the turn and probably sink these three freighters (more than a dozen ships reported)... while formations of bombers fail to locate the targets in 80% of the time, you nevertheless get halve a dozen sightings from patrol aircraft... something seems to be mismatching here, but good for the game when the fleets aren´t whiped out as soon as they get in range of LBA... you just have to wonder what happened in real life, thinking about the Bismarck Sea for example, the Japanese were clearly whiped out as soon as they got into range... what was the loss rate for ships in the famous Battle of the Bismarck Sea? 90%? goes for both sides though, the enemy´s bombers are just as bad in locating targets that have been spotted and shadowed by patrols as the Allied ones...
