As I recall, quarter horses were bred to be docile and hard working, whilst Arabians were bred for war. High strung would be a good quality in a war horse, methinks.

Uma is anything but DOCILE. She is cranky....bitchy and beats up bigger horses that come near her hay pile. She pins her ears at anyone who approaches except her daddy.

Guess who her daddy is????? [:)]

All thoroughbreds are dorky looking. Too-thin legs for too-big bodies. Arabians are the best looking horses IMO.

IMO Arabians are WAY too high strung. They are the French poodles of the Horse world. I'll stay with the American Quarter Horse, thank you.[:D]

You know....this reminds me of something i told my GF recently......she was making fun of my interest in history and wargaming as usual and was asking if i was "arguing about the color of the Zero's fuel tank again from 60 years ago"

I told her that there's one subject matter and forum type that puts any history/gaming forum to shame in terms of arguing and outright bile and venon......

Horse forums.

Those people are nasty. [:D]

Arabs are nutz........too much inbreeding

American thoroughbreds are bred for speed and tend to be slimmer and 'leggier' than European thoroughbreds which are thicker. While less impressive in the burst of speed dept, they are more durable, less prone to the leg injuries we've been seeing of late. Uno....our one eyed foster thorougbred is built like a European type....he's a freakin Tank. massive body and eats up distance even though from the ground and under saddle it feels like he's going in slow motion.

I disagree here.. a high strung horse would be more likely to throw the rider when it hears nearby explosions, whereas a docile horse would be steady. Traveller was an excellent example of the latter...

EDIT: I am obviously thinking of the post-gunpowder era or warfare!!

Any horse that will be used around explosions will have to be trained to ignore them.

Going out for dinner with Mrs. Chickenboy. We just finished some Christmas shopping on the San Antonio riverwalk, had a nice leisurely lunch and a siesta too. Grandparents are keeping the kids for a couple days, so it will be a nice getaway...[8D]

We have absolutely the same thing here. The governement even complain about the national weather meteo administration because they did foresee 10 cm of snow, when in fact it snowed 15cm . A few days later, they realized how ridiculous it was and dropped any idea of trial (yes, you read right, trial) against the weather guys.
But as snow was once more awaited, the governement ask to 16 armored vehicules to be ready (ready to what ?).
Of course, journalist don't even know the difference between an armored vehicule (their are, it seem, plenty of kind of vehicules), and so immediately started to talk about TANKS .

And each and every people complain about the amount of snow. WHAT DOES THE GOVERNEMENT AGAINST THE WEATHER ???

I am pretty sure that each year, humanity is a bit more stupid....(and i think i deserve to be part of it )

So stupid it's funny and scary at the same time!

There's a very old saying here in the US: "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it!"

Customer: “I’m having issues with my Outlook.”

Me: “Show me the problem you’re having so I can see if I can fix it for you.”

(She has six passwords each over twenty characters long, Bios password, Windows password, Zone Alarm Password, Outlook Password, etc…)

Me: “You don’t need to have your passwords that long for security’s sake.”

Customer: “I read on the internet that sniffers give up if the password is too long.”

Me: “I’m happy you did your research, but you don’t have to have it longer then 15 characters long.”

Customer: “Well I’m afraid if someone steals my laptop, the programs that can recover passwords can’t detect past twenty letters.”

Me: “That’s true, but no one really does that anymore. In this business we have customers coming in all the time to have us remove the password for them because they forgot it. For instance, I can get into your laptop in less then 2 – 3 minutes without your help.”

Customer: “No way. I’ve made precautions.”

Me: “I will be more then happy to show you that I can. But I would have to charge you a half hour fee and you would have to sign the work order giving me permission to.”

Customer: “And if you can’t? ”

Me: “Then I will be more then happy to refund you the money and you would have won this war.”

(Customer then pays the fee and signs the work order.)

Me: “Give me a moment.”

(A minute later.)

Me: “Here you go, I’m logged in to your Outlook.”

Customer: “Oh my God! How did you do that?”

Me: “If your really worried about someone stealing your laptop, you shouldn’t have laminated your passwords to the laptop.”

Lucky for you, tonight it's just me
