I'm making pork pie for Christmas eve. (What can I say, it's a Quebec Quois thing!). [:D]
My mom's side of the family has a trational meat pie that she will make on Christmas too. Good stuff!

It's the quiet before the storm here.  The house is clean, the 24 pound turkey is in the oven, my wife is not yet home from work, Pavarotti is belting Christmas tunes, and I have fresh, hot coffee.  [:)]

The madness starts around 1200 today, and should  be over by around 1800.  After washing a ton and a half of dishes, I'll grab a rum drink and toast my dearly departed father who laughed at everything and never had a mean word to say about anyone.  He left us 19 years ago today, and I will give thanks for the wonderful years we had together.  [:)]

I will also be giving Christmas Thanks for all of my strange, funny, knowledgeable, witty, and overall fantastic Thread Brothers.  I get to know you as individuals and as a group, better and better each year, and I hope it continues for many more years.  [8D]

Merry Christmas, my Brothers!  May you all have a wonderful holiday, full of friends, family, love and joy, and may you always have full torpedo tubes and enough AV support (unless I'm playing against you)!  [8D]

Well said, Thread brother! [:)]

Merry Christmas fellows! Image

... and please spend some time thinking about those firemen, police officers, military men, hospital personnel (et al) that have to work this day to provide us others with the basic security and safety to really celebrate Christmas as it should celebrated ... Image

... and with that said, I'm off to bed - Good night gents [>:]

The weather has been crazy and things are tough all over. Cyclones and flooding everywhere!!! It's incredible to believe the whole place was in severe drought only 12 months ago!!

This is more like the weather I remember when I was a kid thirty years ago. People are saying this is unusual but it's all been done before...

I'm glad I didn't go home to the family this Christmas. We rang the Mother-in-law in country Queensland this morning and they have had 14 inches of rain in the past 2 weeks. All the relatives who are staying there are wondering if they are going to be able to get home.

The good thing about floods (provided it isn't your house floating down the river or you're not caught on the road between two flooded bridges) is it can be a fun time especially for the kids (at heart [:D]). Just hunker down where you are, pull the canoe out of the shed and you have a novel new mode of transport around town!!

The stockings have been hung with great care.

The young 'uns are nestled into their beds with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads.

Gifts are wrapped and under the tree.

Family went to Christmas eve mass. We're ready for the chaos of the morning.

Oh, and Singapore just got liquidated.

Yes, a Merry Christmas, all...[8D]

Ahh, a lovely Christmas Day here...[:)]

Also the birthday of the finest actor of his generation (and IMHO, of all subsequent generations), Humphrey Bogart (1899 - 1957). Here's lookin' at ya, Bogie![&o]

Earplugs are ready. Vacuum cleaner and trash bags are standing by. Alarm set for 5am (which is probably 5 minutes after the kids'll wake up).
