Just bought the game and I can't play it

I just bought the original and the new expansion ROTS. I installed the original and it started up without any problems. But when I installed the expansion ROTS, the game just crashes. It also installed .NET 3.5 and DirectX 9.0c

I've looked at the other threads and I figure maybe trying those out first before posting here but nothing so far has helped.

I've tried...

Installed Internet Explorer (was using firefox)
Upgraded Media Player to ver 11
Upgraded to .NET 4.0

I am running WinXP SP3 and running as admin, AMD Athlon X2 240 2.81GHz with 3 gigs of ram. Using an ATI Radeon HD 4500 with dual monitor at (1920 x 1080) res.

Plz ignore this thread now since I have fixed it by reinstalling in a new directory.

I think there is a conflict with older mods or files which were replaced (ie shipsets)
