Soviets and Lake Ladoga

Post by ool »

I am just starting my first practice game as the Soviets. Xmas and family continually came between me and WITE.[:D]

Just going through the aftermath of the initial German attack on turn 1. Looking at the north shore of Lake Ladoga and the north edge of the map there is four hex line that the Soviets could retreat to and form a short MLR after the Finns attack. The obvious advantage of this initially is that a four hex front is preferable manpower wise to manning the full extent of the Finnish no attack line further back, at least till Lake Ladoga freezes. Then the Finns will swarm across the lake and make the line untenable.

I look at this initial line as a chance for time, the Soviets most valuable commodity, to go on and mobilization to get into effect. Once lake Ladoga freezes there should be enough units at that later date to man the no attack line.

Would appreciate any feed back to other Soviet players as to what they think of this and what they have tried in regards to the Finns and lake Ladoga.

X84 Y3 to X86 Y0 in case anyone was wondering.
