Cannot change options/preferences, cannot play

I first noticed the slowness and difficulty scrolling around the map, so I tried to change the preferences to lower graphic quality. once check the left, and it was downhill from there. Cannot change any preferences, as program freezes. Now, both AXIS and Allies are froze at "computer,and I cannot change them, cannot change anything. thanks!

Couple of questions:
What version of game you are running? What are the specs of your PC? Can you post dxdiag?

Cannot play, Game freezes, get windows message, "Program not responding."
I am running 1.01
Tried this and beta
Run on Win 7
Intel Dual Core. Newer model up to date laptop with integrated graphic card for gaming.

Just as an update, I have tried again, and I can play, I just save rather frequently. What triggers a freeze is when I try and change the graphic quality to the lower mark. Game immediately freezes every time.
