Guadalcanal is an excellent Scenario to learn on. I played it several times before tackling the the full game. The Allied supply situation is rather lean, so it's a good scenario to learn the supply system on, resupply of combat TF's, Bases etc., which is the 'meat 'n potatoes' of the game.
