Problem starting Empires In arms

I recently downloaded Empires in Arms from Matrix Games, and also the 1.08.04 and 1.06.03 patches. When I load it an error message comes up saying:

There is an error with your serial number.
Please contact support@matrixgames.com for assistance
Error Code: -1

The one time I did get into the game, it looked like labels were missing, as some of the boxes on the interfaces simply said 'Label 24' or other numbers.

However, i had already registered the serial number before loading the game and it is register on the Matrix website. Have I missed something? Are there other patches? Or do I have to download the patches in order?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a huge fan of the board game

A new error message is now appearing when I start the game. It now says:

Win 32 Error. Code 5.
Access is denied

Can anyone help?
