Window 7

Post by histgamer »

I just started up the game for the first time and is it normal for the game to operate in a window and the opening video to only be like 1/10th the size of the window when you maximize it?

Also when I get to the menu screen all I see is black... I have to control alt delete it out to get back to the main windows screen but so far I can't play the game...

Sorry about your problem. Size depends on your resolution. The game starts in a 1024x768 window and the video is smaller than that. When you maximize to a larger resolution, the video can get fairly small. The bigger issue is the black screen at the main menu. Do you have updated video drivers? Please post a dxdiag report on your system. Hopefully Erik or someone technical can take a look.
All understanding comes after the fact.

I went to the videos folder (C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\video) and renamed it to read "no_video" ("C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East\Dat\no_video"). Now when I start the game it goes straight to the menu with no video or delay.

That probably won't help with your black screen issue though...

I just put it into a XP compatibility mode for the heck of it and the issue resolved itself...

Thanks though
