Question on Spain and Diplomacy

Post by Maximeba »

The Axis player is trying to get Spain active as an ally. Germany has risen it's political strength in Spain to 79, only to see it go down to 19. Is this supposed to happen?

Spain is the one location the Allies seem to actively contest, when the AI is in control. It is understandable since Gibraltar is so vital to their interests, but frustrating for the Axis. Hitler said he would rather have teeth pulled than sit in a meeting with Franco, so I guess it is accurate.

I'm sorry, I didn't make my last post clear.  This is a two player game and I'm controlling the Allies.  The Axis player spent 50 dp's twice to raise Germany's political strength in Spain to 79.  I did nothing to drive the German's political strength down.  Yet, the political strength for Germany fell to 19.  So, the game is driving the political strength down.  Just curious why?

Now, that is fascinating. I had always assumed the AI was doing it, but maybe it "decays". I wonder if this is working as designed?

Interesting!
I don't know, either, but I'm wondering whether it's worth asking on WI's own forum?

The AI should play NO part in the game other that mechanics.
If Spain is the AI and it has 79% for Germany, then kicks into 19% means there is a political tigger that resets the alignment at a certain point.

HOI does this.

I have not seen any triggers to do this. It must be behind the scenes or a bug.

A player should be told up front in the manual if there are triggers that keep alignments at a certain ratio.

Teh a guide is needed on how to get around it or state. Don't even try.
