Celebrated at same club as every year and drunk too much caipirinhas once again. Fortunately don't have a wife to blame me and my dog never complains. [:D]

Had a Filipino feast with my next door neighbor and the rest of our Filipino teacher contingent... lots of delicacies... including a traditional roast boar's head (bet you didn't know that was their tradition for holidays).

Then some very rare sparkling red Italian wine to celebrate the New Year while watching the ball drop in Times Square (yea, at midnight Mountain Time - since when do they rebroadcast the New York celebaration across each time zone?).

Now it's just me and the dogs and Nic Cage in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"

The bad news. My first Christmas and New Year without alcohol in nearly thirty years as myself, my Dad AND the Mrs are all on medication that doesn't mix with it. [:(]

The good news. This is the best I've ever felt on a New Year's day morning for, well, nearly thirty years! [:'(]

Happy New Year all!

Like Herston says, don't drink too much makes you feel *so* much better the next day... sun is shining and I'm ready to go out for a bikeride.

My wife is Filipino and I speak fluent Tagalog. The Tagalog word for the roasted boar's head is litson. It's common to see the entire pig roasted too!

They've done that when the weather was warmer. Tonight we had just the head, chicken wings, fantastic Taquitos, Jalapenos with cream cheese filling wrapped in bacon, a sliced ham, and a dozen differen deserts :) We are very lucky to have a vibrant Filipino community in Pinon, our pitch in dinners are always special!

I wasn't quite up to eating a slice of the boar's ears I must admit, though I had a piece of the jowls. I sampled everything else though. What a party!

It just hit -7 outside and my wood stove isn't keeping up -had to kick in the electric heat for a few minutes to take the chill off the house (that's why I'm up and posting at 4:30 am!)

Back to bed - Happy New Year Everyone [:)]
