Soviet Production Question

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Soviet Production Question

Post by Dereck »

I'm looking at possibly starting a GC as the Soviets. What would be the best criteria/strategy for moving factories east?

Sorry if this is a non-specific question but I'm not sure if one type (armaments, etc) should have priority or if it should be moving all out of endangered cities first or a combination of both. Also, should they be moved to cities on the extreme east of the map? to one city or spread out?

Thanks for your patience.

See the game play tips on evacuating factories (in red text starting on pg. 283 of the EBook manual.) [:)]

I struggled with this question as well. Here is what I have figured out.

Page 65 is important. It tells you how to actually move factories.

Aircraft Factories and AFV Factories need to be moved all at one time (any left behind are lost) and you need to move at least one point of the factory for it to rebuild.

HI, Armament, Vehicle, can move as needed. Take one or two from a location and the rest will be there for later transfer.

While it seems illogical I have read on the forum that you don't have to worry about matching manpower at the destination location to any factory moved there. So I just randomly choose cities near the east edge of the map and move the factories there.

Also I read on the forum, in one of the AAR, that you don't need to move BA-10 factories because they stop producing in DEC.

I move Minsk first, then start on some of the Tank and Aircraft factories in Leningrad. After that I think about Odessa and Kiev.

Just some of what I THINK I have figured out.

Soviet HI and Armaments Factory Evacuation

Post by matt.buttsworth »

Ok

I understand what is required to maintain historic production levels of specific tanks and planes.

I understand that HI factories and armaments factories do not rebuild. Does that mean I should withdraw all 3 points of HI (they are usually e points) at once to avoid a fall in production or is moving 1 point enough.

Any advice apprecetiated.

As I understand it, each point of HI and Armament is independent. So you can move them one at a time, several together, or all at once. They don't rebuild, but each point is damaged in transit and repairs over time. Any not moved and captured do not rebuild.

With AFV and AIR, just moving one point will allow the entire factory to rebuild. They also must be moved together - any not moved are lost until rebuilt. I TRY to move all together and I have had the rail capacity for the most part.
