The interface is this games worst enemy

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

The interface is this games worst enemy

Post by pvthudson01 »

The interface in a wargame has to be slick, and this one has serious issues with clicking, picking up and moving units.

What is the best way to get around this?

The bars under a soldier icon in a area are not cutting it for me. I drag and drop, and half the time it wont pick a unit up or it just de selects the area or doesnt register that I grabbed a unit.

How do others move stacks or stacks within an area effectively?

I want to do a write up on this game but I simply cannot get over the frustrations of the interface.

Also why is the chat window so cut off when I try to read error messages in the combat screen ?

See in the attached screenshot? at the bottom? If something happens in combat I get to read one line there. What am I missing?

There is no easy means to refer back to any of the massive number of announcements that sometimes appear at the start of a new turn. Some of these messages may be important but the manner that they are delivered make them almost impossible to use and once one is closed it is, for all practical purposes, lost forever.

Ok I had that open but will that stay open even during combat? I need to try that. I had the window expanded but wasnt sure if that stayed during combat so I closed it again.

The chat window will stay expanded throughout the game if you want it to. I find that it is the way-and unless I am doing a multi player game I do not need the expanded chat/message window.

There is the complete message history window also. By clicking the box on the top right side of the mini map it will open. The message history box cannot be kept open while issuing orders. I never thought that a problem though. Once in a great while I want to check a particular message and will open the history window. After I found what I was interested in there is no need to keep it open.

There is also the battle log. If you have an interest in what or why a battle went the way it did, just click on the battle log in the battle dialog after the battle. If you close the battle dialog I think that info is lost for that battle.
