Back button needed now!!

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Back button needed now!!

Post by squatter »

Sheesh, doing anything under the hood here is unneccessarily painful. If only there was a back button that universally worked through all the dialogues that have to be opened to change leaders, HQ support, unit command, etc. As far as non-bug fixes go, this has to be near the top of the list.

For example. I open Commanders Report as I want to look at all my leaders and replace some of them. I filter by corps HQ units, so far so good, I can see all my leaders on one list.

Then I click on one leader to look at him. This takes me to the leader dialogue. Now, to go back to my list, I have to close this dialogue, and reopen the commanders report. I might have to do this 20 times to look through my roster.

Please give me a back button.

Unfortunately Gary had problems with the interface and was not able to code a universal back button. Perhaps down the road another programmer will be able to do what Gary could not. In the meantime, you can speed things up by learning the hotkeys. In the example of going to the leader screen from the CR, all you need to do is press c (the hotkey for the CR screen) to get back to the CR screen.
All understanding comes after the fact.

When a teenage Gary Grigsby thought to himself whether to become a wargames maker, or internet browser designer, he made the right choice.
