I have been obsessed with Lenningrad and after several attempts have achieved my best result thus far. It is the start of the Mud season and I have displayed my current position.
My offensive capability has dwindled in the center due to supply issues. Overall on all fronts my forces are just tired and depleted. I have begun preparations for the first winter.
I would appreciate ideas based on my current positions for defense lines and plans for weathering the winter.
First off, get into as many towns as you can unless the unit is a mountain div. Don't even think about trying to hold open ground for more than a single turn, not even then with a single div unless mountain. Or Fins.
Start looking where your Allies are down south. They will break the first time they get popped even in a level 4 fort. Unless they are in a major city. They are your weak link. It will get really ugly really fast where ever they are. Except for the Fins.
Sorry, once the blizzard hits, and he breaks your line, it gets horribly ugly really quick. Remember all those "rifle div retreats" and loses 4,000 troops? That will be your guys. Trust me, been there, done that. I have had div that did not even get attacked all winter end the winter with 9,000 troops down from 17,000. The winter is just down right mean.
Unless your guys are falling back to level 4 forts. The fatigue you get from even sitting still during the blizzard is horrible. Prepare to see attrition shoot from 16,000 per turn to about 100,000 per turn. Not trying to deflate your morale, but speaking the truth. The winter I basically survived, I did 5,000,000 casualties before blizzard, so I think I hurt the Russians enough that she could not manage, but still turned my southern border to swiss cheese. That is where I suffered my 2 break outs. Once that happens it was horrible. I held in the north in the 3 hexes along the coast, and along Pskov river line. AGC was along the Dneper. I halted all advances in Sept and just dug in tight. Pulled back everyone from all gains. Was really, really hard to bust the AI lines once 42 offensive took place.
Best places are a town, level 4 forts, 2 German div (mountain div best) stacked and where the AI cannot get more than 6 units at you at a time. He gets 9 on you, and it will hurt.
