Taking Riga a big mistake, another lesson learned. I'm happy with my drive toward Pskov, my first objective reached.

Situation satisfactory in the center, again I think his trying to save some pockets will only net me more units in the end.

I thought it was a disaster in the making but the situation has been stabilized. Once again another lesson learned on not over extending one self. I'm still up in the air on what to do with 1st Pz Grp now that I diverted from Kiev.

Once you set up a system it only takes me about an hour to hour and a half do this stuff.  I got no life really [:D].  Its fun stuff to create and hopefully will be a good visual learn aid to most.

Turn 2 pockets

Post by PeeDeeAitch »

You have him in rolling pockets (as I say) in the center, he pulled back and linked up, but that means a turn two even larger series of pockets - if you pull it off. The advantage is the units pocketed are fatigued with damaged equipment.  Of course, the point is moot if you don't pull it off [:)]

Starting to meet resistance in the north around Pskov, that was expected. Looks like Red is going to fight for Riga.

Finally cleaned up pockets in the center. I failed to reach the Dnepr with 2 Pz Grp. Fell just shy of the mark, crossing next turn will be impossible with forces available. I'll probably shift north to help get Smolinsk.

Our fencing match in the south is getting dangerous for both of us. Red continues to keep large group of forces to slow me down from Kiev, expensive tactic if I can pocket him. I keep over extending 1st Pz Grp. Hopefully I won't get burned yet [:D] I decided to shift 2nd Armee to the south to help those wonderful Romanian troops working for me.

Here is another installment of the 9th Panzer. They have seen little action so far, not by my choice just the circumstances.

Here is the situation in the north. From here out I expect some heavy fighting up to Leningrad. I don't think I'm going for Leningrad though, I think I might send 4th Pz Grp to the east to help go at Moscow when I think the time is right.

This is the area I'm most worried about. Facing the AI is one thing, but facing a human is another. I think he will defend the land bridge more so then the Dnepr. Breaking through this one will be a relief once its done. Any input from you commanders out there would be appreciated in this front. Next week I'll try and give a more in depth analysis of the area once recon gives me a better picture of the situation.

This is my trouble theater, I feel as though Red is trying to slow me down by letting me kill of his units and wasting my time. Its expensive I hope and will not be worth it in the end but time will tell I guess. I have this dread that Kiev will be wall to wall Russians when I get there.

Interesting.

He appears to have a lot of troops up at the front in the south and did not checkerboard there where he can easily trade space for time. The river may be rough down there, but then again, he may not have a ton to defend it with. I agree Kiev is likely to be loaded, but I wonder how much further south he will have to go along with it.

Great AAR. Keep up the good work. [:)]
