BUG in ROTS?, please fix!!!

Post by Caesar_Augustus »

OK, I'd like to post in a new thread because this is quite important:

I've been carefully experimenting with the "special components"
altering the tech numbers 0-15 for a given race, and the fact is,
unless I am missing something, special techs 4-15 take effect
in a game for that altered race, BUT special component techs 1, 2, 3
(i.e. 1=Death Ray, 2=Devastator Pulse, 3=Super Laser) DO NOT go into effect
as the others... Why not???

So, if the nice devs can confirm this, could they please fix this?
The Galactic Empire cannot bring order to the galaxy without a fully
armed battlestation... for peacekeeping missions, that is...[:D]

THANK YOU ALL FOR A WONDERFUL GAMING EXPERIENCE!!!

I think this is because those particular weapons are not in the tech tree in RotS.  So you are giving the race special weapons that are not in the tree to be researched.

Thanks, Woodman, that could be it in ROTS, but I can assure you that these techs DO WORK in standard Distant Worlds, tried it with the Romulan Empire, hehe... So why not in ROTS?? Anyway, they're looking into it in the bug/tech support forums.

Hehe, thats what I meant, in RotS the techs work differently, the racial techs apear in the tech tree.  So to get these techs to work as a racial tech they would have to go in the tech tree.  But that would kind of ruin the game, as they are meant to be found etc

Maybe Eliott can somehow enable them without the them going in the tech tree, I don't know.

So can we edit the tech tree now, then?? This tech should not be found somewhere in the deeps of space, Imperial Engineering ought to develop it somehow, or if that is not desirable, have the tech from the start, hehe...
[:D]
In any case, the nice and understandable devs [&o] must realize that in order to enforce law and order in the galaxy, nothing beats a fully armed and operational battlestation... I mean, what's a Death Star without the Super Laser??[:D] Surely the devs [&o] must enable this...

Mr. Data over at the bug/tech support forum states that once Elliot gets wind of this (evident bug!), he will put it on the to-be-fixed list... yay!!![&o]
