Lend Lease oddity

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Lend Lease oddity

Post by usecase »

I'm a martyr to my motor pool, so wrote a little script to parse the event log. This struck me as odd:

Turn: 098 Lost: 2145 damaged: 8105 repaired: 9412 lend lease: 3000 net change: 2162
Turn: 099 Lost: 2193 damaged: 7935 repaired: 9471 lend lease: 3000 net change: 2343
Turn: 100 Lost: 942 damaged: 2924 repaired: 8521 lend lease: 0 net change: 4655
Turn: 101 Lost: 2767 damaged: 7944 repaired: 9779 lend lease: 0 net change: -932
Turn: 102 Lost: 1093 damaged: 2932 repaired: 9005 lend lease: 3000 net change: 7980
Turn: 103 Lost: 1435 damaged: 3064 repaired: 9008 lend lease: 3000 net change: 7509

It's not the end of the world, I'm just curious as to why there were no lend lease vehicle log entries in turns 100/101 (that's 13th and 20th May '43). Any thoughts?

While I'm here, I'd also like to claim a prize for most trivial bug report: the event log spells 'aircraft factories' 'aircaft factories' ;).

Pavel, sure. Apologies if this should have been better placed in Tech Support - I've uploaded a save there.

Well, it wasn't as if convoys arrived every single day - so historically, it arrived when it arrived (and depending on how the Kriegsmarine was able to perform up north).

In the game, I don't know.

There may have been a period where the Murmansk convoys were stopped; I don't remember any supporting details.

More like: how the weather was and the Luftwaffe and U-Boots performed in the north. Still, the majority of the convoys were not really damaged by the Germans. The convoys through Persia (an over land convoy, obviously) and across the Pacific mostly took a long time to get to the front, but were generally less dangerous.

I believe convoys were either strictly limited or stopped all-together during the summer months (because of the 24 hours daylight) - made it too easy for the Germans to find their targets.
