Haha Right off the bat the game isn't working!

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

The tutorial movies aren't playing so I get nothing but the splash opening screen of the soldiers walking in the snow.

That's because you've started the game as opposed to running the tutorial movies....

Start->All Programs->Battles from the Bulge->Tutorial

And what happens if you go to it via the route I posted...

I get a screen with a list of clickable links starting with "Welcome" and finishing with "TM6: Phase 2"

Edit: I also get the above if I do what you did.

Tutorial videos are in Windows Media Video format (.wmv). You need player with appropriate codec installed to view them.

Er... if he's running on Windows, that would be Windows Media Player then....

...i.e they should *play* out of the box

Many people dislike Win. Media Player and try to avoid it. Here is one of free alternatives:

GOM Player

Ummmm somehow it is running in DivX not Windows Media player.

I figured out how to get them to play though. I have to hit the little white bar that is at the start of the timer at 0:00

When I click the little white bar it starts playing. It just doesn't play from the play/pause button. Weird

Windows Media Video is "native“ video format on Windows OS. You can play it with Windows Media Player out of the box but sometimes people have some other players installed as well and associated as default player for all media files, including .WMV format.

Interestingly, if you dig deeper into BFTB installation folder you can find there some CamPlayer app. (Matrix Games\Battles from the Bulge\Movies\BFTB Tutorial Movies\Media\Common\Programs). It seems developers have anticipated possibility to use this player as some alternative to WMP but this CamPlayer supports only .AVI format and since tutorial videos are in .WMV this piece of software is useless for the purpose.

That CamPlayer app is used to run the tutorial movie selection menu app. That's all. It comes standard with Camtasia, which we used to generate the tutorial movies.

BTW. It was great "meeting" you in the intro video "Arjuna". After all of these years of really wondering who you were. :)

Now I understand. I was wondering why is CamPlayer there if it supports only .AVI format. [:)]
