Unique Airstrike Availability Sound Please :)

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Unique Airstrike Availability Sound Please :)

Post by Marshal Villars »

Please give us a unique "Airstrike available" sound.

I miss using them all of the time because the messages either all sound the same "ping"...or there isn't a message that there is one available.

Maybe make it an option for those who don't want to hear it?

Doesn't need to be anything more than a unique "ping". :D

1. Great idea! It needs to be more obvious than it is now.

2. It would be handy to know how many airstrikes might be available over the course of any scenario - it helps in the planning.

Yeah. I don't know how many airstrikes I have missed using because they have come and gone without me noticing in the heat of battle.

It's a great idea, but regrettably, it's not a new one![;)]

First of all, about missing air strike, Dave say in another thread the following:

Re air strikes. Even if you do miss using them your staff will assign them automatically once the time alloted to you has expired.
It's a pretty important information I overlooked.

About displaying the airstrike number to help planification, I guess it's not so easy because it depends on the weather condition. Running the same scenario twice, you may have very different number.

Yeah. But even if they are automatically assigned if we miss them, I would still like to know I have them and assign them myself.

I do remember in the past someone proposed an option to pause the game upon the arrival of an airstrike or reinforcements. Yes, these events can be missed. Or you may forget about them when reloading a saved game.

I would HATE a pause just because you have an airstrike available. Because I like to play against humans. And there are too many pauses in the game already. If we add pauses for airstrikes and for setting Start/Stop/Assault times too, then the player vs. player slowly becomes unwieldly, frustrating, and boring.

I think just a different sounding "ping" is the easiest (and straight forward and simple) solution. No?
