Pulsing Red Circle???

A newbiw in his first game. About 20-30 turns in, three systems started radiating a red, pulsing circle. By zooming in, it appeared to eminate from a point within the system, but not the sun. Can someone comment on what this means? A search of the encyclopedia was fruitless. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by turns but are your colonies rebelling? Do you have the AI managing taxes effectively?

those red circles are location pings, the tutorials contain some basic info on this
bottomline, they're warning you that something of interest is happenjing at that location
this location should be a colony for example but if enough time passes before you check the colony will orbit away and in the center of the circle you'll see nothing (the ping does not seem to follow the object)

Aren't these markers blue? At least they're in my game. Or so I think.
If there are red markers also, then they may mean something different. I've never seen any of these.

Anyway, data is correct in his suggestion to inspect these locations as soon as possible.

yes, they are blue for most of the cases....they are read for troublesome news afaik
like James suggested, in this case the colonies maybe rebelling....i'm speaking from memory now so not really sure, but it is wasy to check and maybe princep01 can confirm

Thank you gents for the comments. Yes, I found the meaning of the blue pings in the manual, but never did find the red pings. I think James is correct about the meaning. I had purchased the location of an "interesting" system from the pirates earlier in the game, but the location was in a grid (Sector G7) format and I did not know how to use the grid at the time. So, I never went there. It appears one of the red pings is eminating from that system (potential colony world or artifact about to "go away").

There are three pings and two are of that nature. The third one is unknown. I shall endeavor to investigate immediately.
