AI Turns

Post by buchand »

Accepting that due to a crash I am now using an older desktop is it reasonable to expect a winter turn for the Soviets to take up to 40 minutes under 1.02? The Wermacht was being cut to pieces in the first winter of my first attempt at a GC so started again but am not looking forward to the winter turns for two reasons now [&:]
does allow a good deal of multi tasking when waiting right enough[8|]

I'm running the game on a ultralight ntoebook with low voltage processor (slow but a good power saver) and 2GB of RAM... and my winter turns run for a bout 30 minutes. I am below recommended specs so I can't complain. [:D]

One guy said to make the turns go faster zoom all the way out and set message level to 0.

This should speed it up

Oh well, until I can afford a new PC then I'm sure my wife can come up with lots of 30 minute tasks for the winter turns[:(]

Playing as Soviets v AI. I have a relatively fast machine, Quad 3.40 ghz CPU, 8 Gigs of RAM and a decent video card, and the first turns, as the Germans were attacking, ran 10 minutes. As we progressed through August, September and October, the AI was running as much as 15 minutes. When mud came and the attacking stopped, it fell to 5 minutes. At the height of the blizzard turns when the German AI was doing nothing but falling back, 1-2 minutes were common.

I think the attacking algorithm is much slower, so anytime the AI is in attack mode, it slows the whole process down. I thought there might have been something with my machine, but the devs have hinted at this through other posts.
