FITE again

Post by larryfulkerson »

I'd be willing to bet good money, up to and including a dime, that nobody has ever played a hot-seat game of FITE. And I thought to myself it's a new year and now might be a good time to attempt it just because nobody else has ever done it. And while I'm at it I think maybe I'll produce the largest AAR's ever produced just because I can. I started this thread somewhere else on the forum but decided to move it here because it wasn't excatly fitting anywhere else at the time, it's actually more appropriate here. Anybody up for looking at the largest AAR's ever produced for a hot-seat game of FITE? Here's turn one:

This time there's no need to download anything, just click on the link below to see the front lines as of the beginning of turn 3.  Click inside the rectangles to see a zoomed in view of that area with some verbage by me describing it somewhat. This may not work for those of you using IE for your browser.  In that case may I suggest you download and install Firefox ( a REAL browser ).  I've tested it with FireFox and it works just fine.

Here's another one of those front lines things where all you have to do is click on the link below.  Click inside the rectangles to see a zoomed in view of that area with some verbage describing it somewhat. As always the IE browser might not give optimal results though.

First of all, congratulations for such great AARS. I have discovered recently and I have read them all.[&o]
This scenario has always seemed great to me but whenever I´ve tried to play in PBEM the enemy have left me alone.
The second is I understand that: Are you playing  both sides?
How do you do? Do not you get crazy? [:D]
Sorry my bad use of English. Is not my mother language.
I´m watching you, came on.
Greetings

Well thank you very much Igel dude. I've put a lot of work into them and my secret is that I'm not producing them just for my readers, I'm also producing them to document what is probably the only incidence of somebody actually playing a hot-seat game of FITE. Or at least the only one with a series of AARs for it. I'd like to think I've started something for the record books. Or something.

Yep, that's the problem with scenarios that don't have a highly tuned PO for either side. May I suggest a scenario for you called Directive 21? It's FITE with a PO. I like it and hope you will too. You can find it here:

Yes, I'm attempting to play both sides. The Soviet side is relatively easy to play in the early turns of the game since all you have to do is try to form a front line somewhere and run like hell everywhere else.

I'm taking my time doing the turns so that I don't get burned-out too soon. I'm working on turn 5 right now and it's been about a week since I posted turn 4's AAR so you can see I'm not in much of a hurry about this.

You're doing just fine. Perfect is the enemy of good enough I say.

Yes, please stay tuned for some more of these AAR's. I promise I'll post them for you, just you, from now on.

And thanks for posting your kind words and welcome to the forum and please feel free to ask any questions you might have. If I can't answer your question we'll find somebody who can. Feel free to post pictures and or verbage here....this is your forum too.

Hi, Larry.

........You're doing just fine.  Perfect is the enemy of good enough I say.

I know, I know...the enemy only needs to listen the sound of my bombs......I don´t need to speak whith.....only to order them to surrender [:D]

I have been thinking ( no so many times...is unhealthy [;)] ) about your game and would be interesting if you activate axis allies (Turkey and Finland).... are smaller theaters but could be fun.

Cheers

Hey that's a good idea. I've not fought those theaters before. It's definately time to get them into the war somehow.

Sorry I meant Sweden , and not Finland [8|]
I always active them and are a great help to the axis, although it is difficult to go out of their home ( only a few troops),  they can help in Murmansk.
The Turkeys are a headache against the Russian in a normally very quiet front.
Against a human opponent is good to speak about possible activations of the partners to give more variety to the stage

Oh. I was thinking Turkey and Iran. But Sweden is a good idea too.

Here's the front lines as of the end of turn 5. I'm sneaking up on Minsk and I've got lots of units along the river leading southeast from Riga ready to assault across the river and I'm slowly approaching the Stalin Line with units attempting to outflank both ends.

Here's a picture of a LaGG-3 Soviet fighter. Of course this picture was taken at an air show recently and not during the war.

And here's the AAR for turn 6:

Here's the front lines as of the beginning of turn 7. Note that the Soviets are defending "forward" and have begun to form a rudamentary front line.
