Buy DW only or DW & ROTS

I just dicovered this game and as a big space 4X fan, I'll probably buy it. My question is should I buy only the original game, play it and buy the expansion later? Or should I buy both and skip playing DW without ROTS?

Also concerning software bugs, is DW cleaner that ROTS? If so, should I just play DW and wait for a less buggy version of ROTS?

I would recommend buying both, you will undoubtedly want RotS at a later date, and its cheaper to buy them together because of the discount.  If you get them both there is no need to play vanilla first, the two stories play out side by side (if you choose that option) in RotS.

Neither original DW or RotS are particularly buggy to be honest.  The latest version of DW is very stable (in my experience, it never once crashed, in lots of playtime).  As for RotS, its as stable as DW and the latest beta patch has tweaked a lot of important things too.  I would recommend getting the latest beta patch always, its usually just like getting the patch early basically [:D]

You should go ahead and get both. With ROTS, you can still play the original storyline, and it adds a bunch of nice fixes to the game and its UI as well...which you won't get without the expansion. Well worth the cost for the game and the expansion.

Buy DW on its own. If you like it, then go ahead and buy the expansion pack. This sort of game isn't for everyone, and there's no way of telling if you'll like it, till you try it.

Very stable product, both DW and DW with ROTS. I bought DW first and found it a good enjoyable game. But it ROTS has greatly enhanced some areas, such as tech research and fighters/bombers. So I would not go back to playing DW without the expansion. But Kayoz has a good point, as it may not be your cup of tea.

The discount for buying both at once is pretty crappy. I bought DW first, liked it, got the expansion for what, only 5 bucks (if that) more?
