Soviet Artty Units

What is the best way to employ the Soviet Artty units? Do they just get set to reserve behind the lines, and hope they add in? Or are they like aircraft and will auto support the front line units? Or finally, are they just another unit, that must attack like anyone else?

I guess you mean the buildable on map units

I use them with my spearhead troops to deal alot of damage in the bombardment phase of attack

All the heavy guns and rockets are good

I use 1 or 2 per army

They can fire from 2 hexes away

So you can support 2 deliberate attacks with them

One thing you have to give the Russians credit for is their use of arty. God its massive and "if" you survive the first year can wear the Germans down by constantly hammering their infantry.
