I can't tell anything about release dates yet, but dev diary 4 will be out soon. Most of the Slitherine team is on a holiday break, so we'll have to wait until they are back in bussiness.

I am surprised by the lack of activity here on asking when it will be finished. I thought this looked pretty good. Unless something is really crazy, I planned on getting this one.

Really could have done with getting this out before the Battlefront game....doesn't look like it though...the Battlfront one seems like a WW1 skin to Strategic Command...so this may have more to it...

A new dev diary will go up soon, the game is coming along nicely thanks. We have added a lot of functionality the last few weeks, most media assets are done to be honest, so we hope to go into Beta with Commander: The Great War end of this quarter. AI is our biggest focus at the moment, we have one programmer totally focused on AI alone.

It is indeed brand new code, a brand new engine, brand new AI and the best part of it we are making it all Lua scripted, so every aspect of this game and engine, AI included, can be changed and it will be quite easy to port to other platforms. It is more one big flexible war game tool-kit. From lower spec netbooks to high end computers, from XP to Win 7 64-bit, it will fly.

This is one of the main reasons why this game takes a bit longer to produce, but once the engine is done, we will have an engine that we can expand and improve the coming years and produce many more fun wargames on it, beginning with Commander: The Great War.

"hope to go to beta.., end of this quarter"

What is the date you expect this to be for sale? April-May 2011?

I have no problem with whatever the date is, I was just curious?

Thank you

The release date is not only depending on CTGW going Gold, Slith/Matrix also have to find it a good spot in their release schedule, we have other games like Panzer Corps all due around the same time. But as it looks now I hope Q2 will suit everybody best.
