1st of a 3 game series

Post by Vyshka »

The product info page says:
Matrix Games has joined forces with legendary game designer Gary Grigsby, Joel Billings and Keith Brors of 2by3Games to bring to you the ultimate operational campaign of the south pacific. Uncommon Valor is the first of a three game series.

Out of curiosity, were rest of the games in the series scrapped? I guess WITP could have possibly been the 2nd game, but it was never positioned as that and it is a bit of a different beast. Does 2by3 plan on revisiting this series at some point?

From what I have heard from 2by3 the next work will be on a continuation of the WitE series. War in Western Europe being next from the sound of it and followed by...?...War in Africa/Med.? I do not think 2by3 will be revisiting UV for future expansion. I sent an email to 2by3 a month or so ago about the chance that they might go back to their roots and deliver a tactical game like Steel Panthers. I was told "no" and the future for the time being was based on the WitE engine.

The other games in the series mentioned must have been combined into WitP instead of separate modules along the same vein as UV.

...I would be psyched if they would just do one more update for UV...I do not have the time or commitment for WitPAE.
Kind Regards,

I am sure WITP was the 2nd.  I am curious how you cover all of Europe in a WITE format? WiF (World in Flames) is huge in itself as a world-wide campaign, and that is based on a corps level organization.

I was going to ask them about revisiting the tactical level as well. Steel Panthers is so old and still has a thriving community.

Read the WitE developer interview just posted at the Wargamer. Joel Billings at the end says that he has ideas for a tactical game in the vein of Steel Panthers but he is not sure it could be done...and considering their current schedule they are 5+ years away from exploring other ideas :(
Kind Regards,
