Server Bug

Earlier today I saved a part done turn on the server. It hung for ages with the 'sending' box and my modem indicated data transfer. The 'sending' box eventually closed but with the game still open. I closed it but on reopening found that none of my moves have been saved.

Another thing is that almost every time I log in to the server, I get the following screen-


So I have to log out and log in again. It usually logs me in ok second time but it is time consuming and tedious.

This leads me to ask, what are the advantages, if any, of playing through the server?

Just click anywhere on the screen and everything lines up again.

But I am getting a "bad or corrupt file" message when trying to load a 1st turn that has not even started yet, and I cannot delete it.

Unfortunately clicking on the screen has no effect in my experience.

Minimize/maximize (or resize) the game window and it should align the text. This should be fixed in 1.03 Beta2

The fact that you can't change the FoW settings for server based play, as you can with traditional PBEM saves, is one advantage. I will be switching to server based for future games, although I totally trust my opponents. It just removes that tiny flicker of doubt whenever I am getting my butt kicked

Pavel has already made fixes for PBEM and Multiplayer so they will be in the next beta patch (assuming they test out ok). I don't have an ETA for that patch, so everyone is on the honor system until then.
