COTA v BFTB

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

COTA v BFTB

Post by parmenio »

During my "Game Visibility" whinge, I made the following comment:
ORIGINAL: parmenio

Going forward, I can virtually guarantee I won't be "told" about the next patch or the HTTR expansion and the latter is a Day 1 buy for me. COTA is Day 2 - I love the game engine so it's a must-buy but the campaign is of secondary interest compared with Arnhem or the Bulge.

I almost added at the time that if COTA had been set in N. Africa it would have been a Day 1 purchase as well. I note from the COTA forum that one of patches adds just that. I'm just about to buy it, so are there some relevant threads that discuss the differences between the two games in terms of the game engine etc.?

I'm on Windows 7, so I've already taken note of the post(s) on how to get it running on that OS.

parmenio, here is the "new stuff" thread that is probably the best comprehensive discussion of the differences between the 2 game features:

new stuff

If you go to the Panther Games website you can find some more information.
