i dont know if his actions should be planned out by anyone that has knowledge about reds pages-he just put out  a detailed strategic plan, laying out what he wants to do .
I not saying flav is gonna look at his page, and I think flav swore it off lol after reading reds posts about playing 'a certian way', but I think anyone else that offers carnage future advice about dealing with reds upcoming offensive should come in here and swear off reds page.  Because carnage has no idea of who is looking at what and red pretty much laid out his next 2 months ideas

Most comments I have made are pretty much a "master of the obvious" to me based on the maps that Carnage has posted (in true kibitzing form) and doesn't reflect anything Red may or may not have posted. I have not let slip anything about the January 1st surprise special paratrooper mission dropping on Berlin yet. Ooops.

Carnage, do me a favor (and yourself a favor, for that matter) and post future maps with the fortification display enabled.

This will make it a lot easier to plan out your actions.

I think your defense in the south is too linear and exposed to Soviet counterattacks.

Mountain troops are way too far back in the rear.

That's a good idea about fortifications. As far as the German Mnt. troops I'm waiting a turn or two to see where are the main threats so I can divvy out regiments as needed.

Also about helping out, if I think its to informative I will say so and notify Red so as not to hide anything. When he reads this AAR I want it to be as honest as possible so there isn't any 'cry foul' talk or friendships broken. So far most everything has been general in nature so I have no problems with all your opinions yet.

Just so you know I will not let anyone 'run' my defense for me. Thats kind of obvious but seriously I need to learn most of this stuff going solo. I will take good advice for oversights on my part, such as garrisoning Yalta which I spaced out. That kind of help is nice and I hope Red receives the same, whether he excepts it or not is his issue I guess.

I have questions on this regimental front thing and the hedgehog defense but I view those more informative than anything. This kind of assistance is nice to have also. As long as it is oversight and learning help, again I have no problem with it.

I will continue to read all your opinions and suggestions, some of them help the ole brain think about things I haven't thought of before so please carry on with those gentlemen. [;)]

Turn 25 OKH Report

Post by CarnageINC »

The blizzard has finally arrived... Time to get some medicine I've been dishing out. This is the first time I have lost a commander, I wonder if they didn't over tweak losses to generals. Maybe that was just to Armee level generals over 15 hexes back?

Volochek Front is also set for winter actions. I plan on holding up front here as much as possible. I expect these guys to get quite a few casualties.

Here is probably where I'm going to have to start my one hex back defensive style. I will probably be able to have one corps back 'souping' up while 3 others are at the front.

Bryansk Front is where I definitely will step back one hex and wait. Rinse and Repeat. After the first month I will probably stand my ground more if things are looking better, I'll probably will have reached my strong defensive line by then.

Kursk Front, same thing as Bryansk, from here on south I will try and repeat the fall back one hex until my main line. I don't expect much from the main D line but it should hold him up at least 2 turns...shouldn't it?!?

Kharkov front is were I feel my problems start for defense. I have good depth of strong points a month or more away, but its all his combat units here that have me worried. I'm short about 4-6 divisions here IMO.

Finally the Stalino Front. I've pulled back here the most. This is where I miss those divisions the most. As I fall back I think most of my problems will solve themselves as my front line shrinks a bit. Is this fall back hex defense viable? I may employ a checkerboard here if possible if what I'm doing doesn't cut it.

No map for Crimean, I'm holding my ground there as much as possible. That is where I fear his airborne/amphibious invasion to cut off my forces.

Yes you are, a lot of towns are being garrisoned by the way. Keep in mind I must make sure no divisions are isolated from each other that will spell doom the longer it goes on that way. Got to make compromises somewhere [;)]

Carnage, Sov can usually march one hex forward and attack, just keep that in mind. If you're going to fall back, it is almost always best to do so behind a checkerboard screen. You can also backstop the units up front on the checkerboard to prevent them being surrounded.

Not gonna lie. The defense in the south isn't good and he's going to pop you more or less everywhere. Too linear, and without the forts to pull off a line. The 1 hex step back is actually making it worse.

Hmm...I got the turn back, so far so good. So the Soviets can march forward one hex and do a dedicated attack. I don't want to give ground to freely so I think I will continue this method for another week or so so see how it works. I don't think in most cases he can advance after his attacks, at least that's what its looking like.

Thanks for the help Flaviusx [;)]
