Why are there more stickies than forum topics?

I just noticed I have 12 stickies above only 8 topics...what's up with that? Did I hit a wrong button or something?

I see that too and didn't hit any buttons.

In your profile, you can select how far back you view posts counted in day or weeks.
 
If you have selected only 1 week or so, you might only see a few threads.
 
So the answer is yes you did "press a button".

The forum is like a 1,000 turn PBEM game, you may have to go back a few years in history to fill out that main page.

It's because they deleted a large number of spam posts without resetting the software. It will normalize in a bit.
