Recon with Fighter Escort Selection

Been playing quite a few turns with latest Beta as GE in GC 41. I always have Recon Fighter Escort off and worked fine for many turns. I still have it off and suddenly I am getting fighters trying to escort. I do recon manually so I deselect the fighters and move on but suddenly seems to have stopped WAD.

Do I get it right that you choose no escort when forming manual recon, but they still flying? Right?

Yes that is correct and latest Beta V1.03-2. It worked fine for many turns and now stopped and is consisently not working. It's possible it stopped working when I went from -1 to -2 but not sure.

That's odd.... There are many, many examples of where fighters join recons on this map but just to compare try the Shift Right Click on Hex X = 139, Y =85 NW of Stalingrad) I see:

4(H)/41 Fi156C Recon and Stab/Sch. G1 BF109G-2 are highlighted in the Recon box.

They are auto selected already to participate when I do the manual Recon. If I don't deselect the fighter it will participate in the recon which I thought I didn't have to do when the Recon Escort button is OFF.

I've seen this too.  However, I have found that the "Recon Escort off" will override what shows up in the "Pick Air Units for Mission Display".  If you choose a recon & fighter unit & hit the launch button, only the recon will fly (at least that is what happens in my game).

Well in my case not only do they show up as highlighted they also will fly. For whatever reason, this feature is broke for me strangely.

Most of air doctrine (except % to fly) is ignored when you set up the manual strike. It's up to you to chose how many of recons and escort to launch. And of cause when it is selected (highlighted) it will fly. But if you deselect it (it is not highlighted anymore) and see them flying, it would be a bug.

I have Recon Escort button OFF in the Air Doctrine setting. Doesn't this mean I should have no escorts show up (manual or auto) highlighted in selection box OR fly? Or what you are saying this is only for Auto?

If there is a difference between manual and auto maybe the Change Log should highlight that and prevent people like me bothering everybody!

OK got it! So when I thought it was woprking for manual I must have had no fighters in range at the time and a coincidence they didn't show up. Thanks for your patience here.
