German armament production broken?

Post by MrLongleg »

"Das Reich" received 4 machine guns in three weeks, still refitting in Germany and lacking more than 100 more machine guns, not to talk about mortars and artillery. At that rate I wil need another 100 weeks until it gets back to its full TOE. I got mauled badly in the winter, but I did not know that it was so difficult to get machine guns produced. I upgraded from 1.03 beta 1 to beta 2 yesterday and I was on beta one since it came out.

What is the date in the game? What are the pools?

In the recent testing code we have increased artillery production rate (~2x), but it won't help much if you low on ARM/MAN pools. Also in 1941 blizzard slower refit rate is expected.

Late April 42 - the Blizzard is over and at that armament production rate my guys have to throw kitchen sinks at Russian tanks...

So this are Turn 46 screen shots with pool and production info. AS you can see "Das Reich" did not receive a single machine gun in the last logistics phase although it sits on refit since 2 months in GERMANY. I think there must be something wrong. We are talking simple machine guns, not laser guns.

More interesting - the number of men actually went down to 12230 from 13K+

The simple fact that the unit is back in the Reich for refit and that it's SS designation would increase it's priority for equipment should be able to get you some of those newfangled stamped MG42's in short order. Way too slow.

Artillery here is a wide term for everything produced by "on demand" system. This includes MGs as well.

Thanks - good to know.

Obviously the Blizzard put such a dent in my artillery, that even with double production it will still take a lot of time to refit "Das Reich". (I would get 2 machine guns per week instead of 1 - still 100 MF's missing, so 50 weeks instead of 100)

Sounds like they recognize the problem but lets remember how many MG42's can be stamped out for one 105mm Howitzer in terms of man hours.  I think there's some mixing of apples and oranges here.  We'll see how they deal with it.

Captured Soviet MG's in the first six months and loads of weapons captured in the Western campaign that certainly would have and were used if they were needed, especially handguns. Unlike the Americans for example, the Germans handed out pistols of every type like they were candy. Of course there was a narrow range of calibers, mostly 9mm so logistically it wasn't a problem. Must have been many hundreds of thousands of Russian Maxims that could have been re-barreled, re-chambered to fire standard German 8mm relatively easily rather than suffer ridiculously slow MG production. They probably even did this to some extent to equip some of their allied troops if they had to. Anyway, the 2 MG a week problem persists. Is there any solution being considered or implemented separate from changing a multiplier as discussed earlier in this thread?
