RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
Yes Joel that is what happened.
However I didn't even look at who's the current player when loading turns for game 2 and 3. Didn't pay any attention, I just went thru my turns, perhaps I could have noticed that something is wrong when, loading turn for game 2, game 1 that I just played still shows me as current player. Even if it did, I would not pay any attention because some of my opponents are fast.

I have been out of the office for 10 days. I will investigate as this isn't an issue we have seen before.

No problem, take your time, and I am ready to assist in any way possible.
But please give me some conclusive answer, even if it is "we have no idea". I think implementing a message "save failed" and doing some sort of (local) backup until the save can be attempted later should not be hard to program....

RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
If the uploads failed (we are checking) there should definitely be some error feedback, so we are looking into whether there are some fail states which might not be fed back to the player as they should be.
Given the length of WitE turns having some kind of backup would be great, although there are security questions to address.
Thanks for your patience.

RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
At least you won't have to redo the turn once it's accepted [;)]
RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
This is getting old really fast. Nothing works.
Even tried to re-register, not having any of that either. Crap.

Almost ready to say the hell with it and old school PBEM. At least I never had an issue with that. Might have to re-send a turn, but at least I have it on my hard drive.
And now verizon has screwed up email. Damn

If you have forgotten your Slitherine password, you should be able to reset it using the site links? What seems to be the issue?

RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
I see a game on the server showing it is turn 17 and it is 2ndACR's turn.

Yep, the multiplayer option in the game is not recognizing my password. AHHHH, just tried it again and now it accepted my password.
I am in, but have no clue why it was not allowing it earlier. Enough to make me pull out my hair.

RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
Well the exact same thing happened again, right now. I did my turn, game was sending it to the server for a minute or two but now, after uploading, it still shows me as the current player. There was no error message, nothing that would suggest uploading failed.
It was one of the mud turns, so it won't be a problem to redo it, though.
Please investigate into this.
Also, is it possible to convert the server based game into regular PBEM?

RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
Oleg, did you get official explanation for the first occurrence of this phenomenon?
This is becoming annoying. Do we need to ask for help here after every turn or Slitherine support will finally take care of this? [:@]

No I didn't get any explanation, and I agree this is getting annoying.
Lack of communication from Slitherine is disappointing. I thought multiplayer segment of the game will get "love" from the developers as much as other segments, but sadly it does not happen to be the case here.
I am very sorry for suggesting to my opponents, including you Emir, that we play Slith thing instead of regular PBEM [:@]
I'd be happy if we can switch our games to regular old school PBEM. I am afraid that's one of the (many) features lacking in Slith system, so we are stuck with what we have.

I can convert a Server game into a regular save game. Not sure if I convert it to a PBEM game that the passwords will be remembered. If you give me your passwords, I can try a test to see if this is possible.

RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
Karl (our multiplayer programmer) and Pip (from Slitherine) have been emailing back and forth what to do about this. I get the sense that there are no easy answers, but I know they are discussing it. If I understand correctly, I expect eventually Karl will make some changes on our end to try to provide error messages when games are not successfully uploaded.
So the last time you ended your turn, it exited as normal out of the current game once the saving process was done? Everything looked fine, but the turn was not advanced?

Exactly. It happened the minute or two before I posted the above message (post #33). Game exited, as it usually does when the turn is sent. Only this time it appears not to have been sent. It appears that the connection to the server has been lost mid-save, but then the game should keep the turn somehow, save it locally, or at least keep it in memory without closing, so that we may try to save it again in a minute or two.

RE: What happened to Slitherine multiplayer???
I think it should not be too hard - from a programming standpoint - for a game "client" to simply check with the server whether the turn is saved, and state of the game advanced to other player/phase. If it's not, something is wrong, then keep the game in memory (at the very least), inform the user and attempt another save.
