Turn 104

Remember the part about seeing reason? You know, the part about trying to making an enormous encirclement of the entire central front? One of the reasons to take what you can get is the weather. Namely mud.

AGC: The two panzers armies solidified their encirclements in light of the week's weather. Some pocket reduction was accomplished but there were no mad dashes into the steppe.

AGS: Reduced the pockets and simply consolidated the gains already made.

Turn 105

AGN: Waiting

AGC: The two wings have met. The Kursk pocket was eliminated freeing up a lot of units. The northern wing has consolidated the Bryansk pocket and has shifted infantry alone the northern flank. The mobile forces are keeping a lid on the Bryansk pocket but also pushed east across a river south of Kaluga. The SU formations across the river are tough however by getting my nose out there I was able to create a mini pocket using forces from the southern wing.

The free infantry on the southern wing has solidified the front line allowing the mobile units to drive NE toward Tula. In doing so I was able to link south of Kaluga thus creating a 3 in 1 pocket centred on Orel. I let loose with LVII corps. There drove on every airbase I could reasonably reach and helped destroy 1500 aircraft. I supplied additional fuel to them for next turn.

AGS: I finish reducing the pocket there. The free infantry allowed my mobile forces to drive a hole through north of Stalino and circle south forming a pocket of the the 3 cities.

These pockets will take at least 3-4 weeks to clear. This is especially true for higher level fortifications. I am happy to sit them out as it would be heavy losses for the little extra time they might free up.

Turn 106

AGN: The hex I was waiting on (lvl 4 fortification) was left with a single weak unit. I broke out the 2 panzer corps there.

AGC: Bryansk has fallen. The Orel pocket is being reduced. Tula has been encircled. A minor pocket was created and the infantry continue to shift.

AGS: Stalino has fallen and the pocket tightened. The AI has pushed some units along the coast. They are supplied by 2 ports there. I have encircled them and pushed on Rostov.

A natural encirclement is beginning to form with Moscow at the centre. I will be developing this manoeuvre over the rest of the summer. I hope to close the pocket in about 4 turns time after which the pocket will be reduced. Again, the rail lines will the the focus to prevent units from escaping. I forgot to take a screen shot of it so I will display the plan next turn.

AGN: The mobile units are pressuring the front with additional encirclements. A little west the AI left and opening that I slip an infantry division through.

AGC: Continuing to reduce pockets. Many Soviet units managed to breakout of the encirclement allow follow up infantry to capture Tula without a shot. Ryazan and Voronezh both fell without a shot. The panzers have crossed the Volga. The southern section of the front threaten to encircle more front line SU units.

AGS: The Stalino tri-cities have been secured and Rostov surrounded.

No kidding. However, based on recon, there is nothing around and what is around is weak. Guess we'll see what happens.

Turn 108

AGN: I created a large weak pocket. I am hoping this will be enough to dislodge the infantry defending in their fortifications. If no, I will wait them out. The northern and southern wings have two months with which to link.

AGC: Solidified the bridgehead across the Volga. Of course, of the 3 rail bridges to take I took the single bridge I cannot make a clean rail line over! Infantry has created another central pocket.

AGS: Rostov has fallen. It's now time to solidify gains made. The various panzer divisions are very weak from the hard fighting. It's refit time.
