Bombing cities.

Post by rolypoly »

What good does bombing cities do in this game? I understand the concept of terror bombing would hamper the logistics by creating flows of refugees, but what else? Is the refugees flow modeled in this game?

Could cities be bombed to rubble, to increase the defensive bonuses on that hex?

There are no rubble effects in the game.

Until the air model is reviewed I think most PBEM games are being played with house rules to limit City bombing, as damage to industry is a bit OP atm.
It's only a Game

Bombing cities damages industry

As BigA said, the damage you can cause doing this is currently quite high, enough to actually impact the war's results.

ok. since I have only tried those smaller scenarios in which bombing cities is useless, I assume then.

Does bombing cities (if unrestricted) help axis or allies more?

I dont think captured industry is of much use to the Axis.

IIRC it runs at reduced efficiency.

But I would have to check the manual.

My guess is by the time the Soviets could be bombing German Industry, the Axis are already on the ropes, so it would have no long term effect.

The Axis bombing Soviet Industry would hold back armaments, manpower etc

And slow down the whole buildup to a degree

Then why would anyone play house rules where you cant bomb them? Everyone here agrees its extremely tough for axis to win. Why would you guys tie an arm behind your back with respect to bombing soviet industry?

The guys were saying it was too effective and probably could not be countered.

In War in the Pacific Admirals Edition most people have a house rule not to bomb Chinese Industry as it unbalances the game

I imagine they are applying the same principal
