RE: Forum's search feature won't work
Here is a screenshot of the problem. The keyword researched was "Soviet" in the WITE forum.
I tried with both Firefox and IE. Here is the result. One precision: last time I tried 9last week or so...) search engine was working normally.
What am I doing wrong ??

Hi all,
Unfortunately Matrix forum search never ever worked (i.e. in all the years I am here) as it should be... sorry...

Hi all,
It never worked 100%... at best you would get some hits but never all... thus it worked only partially...
For example for years I tried to search some old posts of mine which I knew exactly that I wrote and with exact wording... the search almost never worked... manual listing (i.e. going through hundreds and hundreds of pages manually) showed that those post indeed exist...

RE: Forum's search feature won't work
Could you please try to search for "Soviet" in the WITE forum and see if you get some results? Or if it returns a completely blank page, like my picture above shows ?

Hi all,
Same as with you... (even if I try with "Less Precise Search")... [:(]
BTW, please try making this same post with pictures to general forum:

RE: Forum's search feature won't work
Always been broken for me.
RE: Forum's search feature won't work
You have to play with it. I can most times find what I am looking for, but you have to play with all the settings to get it to work like you want. Each tiem you use it.
RE: Forum's search feature won't work
I go to google and use the following string
"forum example war in the east" "search phrase example fatigue" site:http://matrixgames.com/forums/
I keep this in a text file and always have it so I can reference it through the "recent documents" on the windows start menu
Works OK

It seems to be a good idea. However, I don't understabnd the exact syntax you suggest. What are the "" ? Could you please give the exact syntax you would put into google to search the word "Experience" within the WITE forum together with a link to the google response page ?

RE: Forum's search feature won't work
Let me give you an example from last night - I was searching for threads dealing with support levels
I typed this into google exactly as shown (the quotes are necessary to guarantee that exact phrase):
"war in the east" "support levels" site:http://matrixgames.com/forums/
I also was searching for information on fatique so I typed in the following (quotes are not necessary around fatique):
"war in the east" fatigue site:http://matrixgames.com/forums/
Hope this helps

You need to tick "Less precise match", then it works better.

Even with "less precise" box ticked the search returns absolutely no results at all...

RE: Forum's search feature won't work
Anyway, I didn't see any explanation from matrix about this issue. It would however be appreciated because the forum is an essential part of Matrixgames' commercial strategy. In my opinion, as a customer, it would definitely be worth the money to get it fixed. Could someone from Matrix explain why the search engine is maintained not working? Thanks.
