Problems on new install

I've loaded the game and upgraded to 1.03 but on all the scenarios, the Games Buttons panel that is supposed to be on the lower left of the map simply doesn't show. I've tried to change the resolution but that does not change at all.

Running Windows 7 with an Intel i7 CPU at 2,8 GHz with 8.0 Gigs of RAM and an ATI/Radeon 5700 video card.

Please run the game again (be sure you are running the game with administrator privileges), go to the preferences screen, change the resolution, exit the game, and run it again.
It should now run with resolution changed.
