What kind of shape are your reserve armies in?  Looks like you also got quite a few guards units going on to [8D]

I have 58 full strength infantry divisions uncommitted along with numerous armor brigades waiting for conversion and also all the airborne which is also waiting conversion. I have 450 APs. This isn't including the division which are strong and near the front line up north. I should be fine for countering anything he does once I have some armor conversions done.

Very impressive amounts of guards units. I don't think the Axis is gonna be very happy to see that many, hehe.

47 Guards units, if I counted correctly and none of the last three maps have overlapping areas nor are from different turns.

Are you aware that once the airborne are combined they are now too large to be para-dropped?

I have yet to see anyone use Paras effectively anyway. If you combine them, you get a Guards Division. If you have 6, you can effectively build a Guards Corps.

That stack may need to bled a few times before dying; a delib attack to drop the fort level and put on casualties, then those attackers are pulled and replaced by other attackers.

Like Q-ball says I never considered using them like that, figured guards units are a better use for them.

Question is how much does he get back.

Probably not enough - I think he will be about 300k light - so in for a tough Summer.

I did find out that the Germans are by no means dead in my other game. But he found out that this isn't the old soviet army anymore. He broke thru and I counterattacked furiously.

Turn 39 is finished and despite having an army the size of Godzilla I am still very nervous of German ability (that is coming from earlier in the game i am sure[:D]) We traded blows for several hexes we both want in the North and it was 2-1 me in the end[:-].

Losses up to now.

Bryansk to Crimea, finally took Dnepropetrovsk after 3 weeks of assaults. If he had broken thru again(which he didn't) I would have pulled back to the river.

The more I see these AARs the more I realize that the Germans are totally fracked in 42. Their great strongpoint is powerful assault infantry and after the first winter, those boys are royally immasculated.

There is no freaking way that a German player can reproduce the 42 campaign if he starts in 41. No way. Not possible. Will NOT happen.

HAS not happened in any AAR so far. Carnage is doing the best and he's WAY WAY WAY behind the historical schedule.

If German infantry can't gain more combat effectiveness back after the 41 winter, it's pointless to play the 41-45 game. Just pointless.

Although I tend to agree with the sentiment, I am going to wait till the end of the first summer before I claim it is totally screwed[:D] as in my other game the Germans have just surrounded about 15 divisions of infantry and although his offensive is limited in scope, it is going thru my lines in an area I wasn't expecting, Northwest front where the ground it swampy and forested. I doubt he can cause me enough looses to turn the tide(could probably lose a million men and still be fine), but the Germans are far from dead in 42.

If you are talking about Haudrauf's game, he's farked. Totally. He can't do squat against you. His infantry are barely a 1/3 better than yours and he has 1/2 the numbers. Do the math.

if this was just about math we wouldn't even have to play[:D]. I do agree he can't do lasting damage to me but he can make things very bloody for me coming the other way.

I must be careful because I read both sides on this one, but yes, he's done some damage. Look at the forces it required him to commit to doing so. Nuff said.

Turn 41, still snowing out[&o] and it looks like my opponent finally decided to conserve his forces and pull them back. Had not attacks this turn except for one position which I kept. Here are the losses and overview of the front.
